Sonia Mabry was born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Alexandria, Virginia. After completing her undergraduate studies, she moved to North Carolina and began her pursuit of a career in education. Mrs. Mabry has experience teaching mathematics in Durham Public Schools and Wake County Public Schools for a combined 8 years. Subsequently, she joined the Thales Academy faculty. Mrs. Mabry believes in teaching her students by posing engaging problems relevant to their lives and their passions. She helps her students to approach mathematics with an attitude of success, rather than fear. She encourages students to seek out challenges on their own by looking for mathematics in everyday life. Ultimately, she fosters an environment where students rise to meet high expectations, working hard to find the best solutions.

Mrs. Mabry received her B.S. in Mathematics from Hampton University. She later received her M.A. in Teaching from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. In 2010, Mrs. Mabry earned National Board Certification in the area of Adolescent/Young Adulthood Mathematics. Mrs. Mabry teaches mathematics.
