Melissa Edwards discovered her love for education at an early age. Through the support of her family, she has channeled her passion into a fruitful career both in and out of the classroom. Prior to joining Thales Academy, Mrs. Edwards spent ten years teaching in a variety of public and charter schools. In addition to her work in the classroom, Mrs. Edwards has served as a Teacher-Educator for the NC Museum of Art, a Cooperating Teacher for North Carolina State University, and a presenter at the Society for Information Technology & Teacher Education (SITE) Conference in Orlando, FL. She often speaks publicly at various educational conferences across the region. Mrs. Edwards is a strong believer in student success and she works daily to build positive, personal connections with students to help them achieve their full potential.

Mrs. Edwards received a Ed.S. in Teacher Leadership from Walden University and a M.A. and a B.S. of Middle Grade Education from North Carolina State University. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Education in Teacher Leadership at Walden University and expects to graduate in December, 2017.
